Places of interest:
Amidst the numerous
place of historical interest to visit, the hamlet of Rivola at Villa
d’Aiano is recommended with its 17 th. century tower. The towers
of Poggiola and Monzone (13 th. -14 th. century), the tower of Lavacchio
(16 th. century) and the stately homes of Torre Jussi (16 th.- 17
th. century) with its Annunziata Chapel (18 th. century) at Rocca
di Roffeno.
Other interesting sites are: Casa Landi and “La Palazzina”
at Casigno, while at Labante it is possible to admire the “mulino
del Povolo”, a mill that is still working today.
At Roffeno, along the
ancient road of Nonantola, is situated “La Chiesa di Santa Lucia”,
an ex Benedictine monastry. A legend tells of two shepards who see
the image of the Madonna impressed on the bark of a chestnut tree.
Here was built the Brasa Sanctuary, founded at the beginning of the
18 th. century and after being destroyed during the war, was rebuilt
in the early “60’s”.
Caves
and waterfalls at S. Cristoforo di Labante
At S. Cristoforo di Labante the spring waters have created the extraordinary,
lime stone rock formations which form the famous caves of Labante.
Amidst the forests of Monte della Castellana can be found Stella Mattutina
(ex Riola), the summer residence of counts Nanni-Levera, the land
owners of nearly all the Aneva Valley.
